Linguist. Human Rights Expert

Working at the international level, language barriers can often get in the way to share knowledge, information and best practices. Passionate about the exchange and sharing of knowledge and information and knowing the international development sector inside out, I have pulled together my expertise and language skills as my best possible contribution in the legal and global development sectors and to causes I strongly care for.

Elena González

MCIL, Member of Chartered Institute of Linguists
LLM, Masters of Laws

Born in Barcelona, I am a bilingual Spanish and Catalan speaker and fluent in English after 15 years working abroad in global organisations with English as main language.

With studies in Law and Translation up to Master level, I am an experienced project manager with sound experience providing policy and advocacy support, including research, advocacy organisational development, capacity building and monitoring, evaluation and learning. In co-ordination roles for many years I have work extensively with policy, programme and communication colleagues as well as external networks and partnerships with United Nations Agencies, governments and civil society actors worldwide for a greater collective understanding and advocacy on policy priorities.

Writing, editing and translation of policy, advocacy and capacity building materials have been a key element of my work over the years. My experience living and working in various countries and with projects in many others has taught me the importance of communication across borders.

Since 2010, I am Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists and I combine my work on human rights and international development with translations, specialized in the legal and international development sectors.
